Enable OnScan Photo ID Capture During Visitor Sign-In on iPad Kiosk
Description
While we are aware that OnScan is currently designed for staff-driven ID capture primarily because kiosk devices like iPads do not have the camera quality or validation controls needed to reliably confirm ID documents this design creates challenges for certain customer environments. The expectation in most organisations is that IDs are visually checked by reception or security staff to ensure authenticity, which is why the product requires staff involvement rather than visitor self-service.
On the customer side, however, this approach is not always workable. At one location, Photo ID is still being captured manually on paper during kiosk sign-in. Training shift staff to handle ID capture or supplying an additional iPhone for parallel scanning is not viable due to staffing limitations, kiosk lockdown configuration, and location constraints. As a result, the team has opted to stick with paper and pen until a kiosk-driven option is available.
Current Workaround
Manual paper-based ID capture during visitor sign-in.
OnScan trial confirmed it cannot be automatically invoked from the visitor-facing OnLocation iPad app.
Parallel capture with an additional device or staff involvement is not feasible.
Enhancement Request
Enable kiosk-driven Photo ID capture directly within the iPad sign-in flow, without requiring staff intervention or parallel device usage.
