Automation & Occupancy Settings - Automatic Time Out
Our business operates 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, on 12 hour shifts. Our night shift crosses over the midnight mark, from one day into the next day. The current automation and occupancy settings do not fit the operating parameters of our business operations.
Could we please have an automatic sign out setting, that was based upon the number of hours, not a specific time of day.

Hi, I have been testing these suggestions, but unfortunately neither are suitable solutions. It's not reasonable to ask employees to enter expected duration on site each day, when this is pre-determined in their employment arrangements - it will just frustrate them and create bad feelings. No good.
I've looked further into the Trigger Event, which initially appears to be ok, except that the Trigger Actions don't provide the right options for signing out the employee that triggered the event. To be clear, it needs logic to look at the Employee who triggered the Event, and log only that person out. Not All Employees, or an entire Department or Role Type, or to name specific people. Your online instructions talk about "Sign Out Matched Person" but that is not an option in the list.
On another note, I received no notification of this (and other) feedback in September 2023 (despite receiving previous notifications of feedback). -
I have taken this to our Product Dev review team and there is a trigger you can create whereby the employee is signed out after x hours of signing in or you can auto sign them out after an expected duration onsite. The latter requires you to enable the employee sign-in question called: 'Expected duration on-site' which you can find in the 'Health & Safety' Tab under 'Employee Basic Questions'.
Next create a new trigger and when you get to the Trigger Event select: Employee Overdue and then the sub choice to meet your needs. You can learn more here:

Hello Karina, as a scenario an employee might start work and sign into OnLocation at 10pm for a standard 9 hour day finishing at 7am. If they belong to a specific 'employee group' say like 'Night Shift' do you want us to support a rule that automatically signs people that are assigned to the night shift out after say 9 hours (so 7am) OR do you want us to automatically sign them out, regardless of shift, x hours after they sign in?.
