When importing a contractor sometimes duplicates are created, this might be because of a bulk import which didn't register the duplicate or because the contractor's information has slightly changed (e.g. misspelt or changed name, change email or mobile or changed organisation. It would be very helpful if we could identify these cases and then have OL merge the profiles.

Currently, it's very easy for profiles to be duplicated. We have lots of freelance artists who will come to the venue to work for various organisations. We want the system to catch them and then offer to merge their profile rather than create a new profile which we need to manually merge ourselves.

We have currently set a preferred name and the full name to be unique within custom fields. This at least catches them in most cases so we don't create a duplicate profile, but we then need to manually edit their profile to add another organisation etc.

Additionally, when the above method doesn't catch people (misspelled names etc to profiles before we put this solution in place) then we need to manually export a full list and "merge" the profiles ourselves before reporting the updated list.
